Mary Woodin is one of our favourite Gallery artists, and to chime with the Aldeburgh Festival we are delighted to have a new selection of her work, on a musical theme.
Mary works from a studio in the garden of her Suffolk farmhouse, interrupted only by a flash of azure from the resident kingfisher or the cluck of a passing chicken. With her eye for detail and pattern, she excels when painting natural subjects. Mary works mainly in watercolour, but originally studied Textile Design at Manchester Metropolitan University and Ceramic Design at the Royal College of Art. A move to the country and the creation of a vegetable plot was the inspiration for her latest book, The Painted Garden Cookbook, published by Running Press, which we stock here at Snape Maltings in our Books & Cards shop. With her husband, Andrew Martindale Mary also publishes a delightful range of greetings card featuring musicians, also available in Books & Cards.
